Hydrangea petiolaris is an award-winning climber—one of the most popular climbing hydrangea plants available. Vigorous and self-clinging, Hydrangea petiolaris tolerates full sun to partial shade and is a particularly good choice for shadier parts of the garden including north or northeast facing walls. In summer, masses of large and fluffy white flowers emerge alongside lush green foliage. Leaves turn an attractive shade of yellow in the autumn.

Low-maintenance and easy to grow, Hydrangea petiolaris can take a little while to establish but we think it is more than worth the wait. In 20 years this climber can reach an approx. height and spread of 12 x 8 metres. Hydrangea petiolaris tolerates clay soil but prefers a moist, well-draining site and should be grown against a climbing support for the best results.
